Maybe you’ve grown up as a Christian going to church or maybe you’re not interested in religion at all. But when you’re scrolling, hanging out with friends, trying to sleep, or overwhelmed with your day-to-day, do big existential questions ever pop in- you know- things like, “Why am I here? How did all this get here? What happens after I die?” “Is there a God and is there really meaning to all this?” ”What’s so special about Jesus Christ?”
We’ve all experienced deep longing for something this world can’t seem to satisfy.
Even someone as wildly successful as Taylor Swift knows that to be true. “I had won album of the year at the Grammys for a second time...” She said, “and I remember thinking afterwards, ’Oh my god, that was all you wanted!... That was all you focused on. You get to the mountaintop and look around and you’re like... what now?”
If you’re tired and feeling overwhelmed with all the different voices yelling for your affections- telling you what to go after- whether it be success, beauty, the perfect partner, social media followers, money, or power… only to leave you let down and unsatisfied, searching for more… Maybe like my friends and me, you’re after finding something REAL.
Every week, join me (Janell Wood), special co-hosts and guests as we ask questions, look for answers, and search for the source of something REAL: Restoration, Eternity, Authenticity, and Love. I believe those things can ultimately be found in relationship with Jesus Christ, but don’t take my word for it. Listen to our conversations for yourself and go on a journey with us: Is Jesus the REAL thing?

Today, Jane Pantig joins Janell on the podcast! Jane shares about her experience growing up in the Catholic church, her experience searching for faith in her early twenties, and how her dad’s faith journey impacted her own journey. Jane also shares about her love for apologetics and why she was willing to come to faith in Jesus without having all the answers. Jane shares about her experience on a MAVEN mission trip, her experience with encountering the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and how their beliefs differ from Christian beliefs. They chat about reaching the person, not just answering questions and so much more. We hope you enjoy this episode!
About Jane Pantig
God has given Jane a ministry that she could not have dreamt up herself and continually shows her that there are greater things to be done for Him. She loves deep conversations and providing a place for students to come with their questions and find answers. Jane is a California girl and has lived in California all her life—from the SF Bay Area to Santa Cruz to Orange County to Los Angeles. She was saved while at the University and she finds it amazing that God brought her back to the university to reach students who were like her, lost. She loves working with university and college students because it is a pivotal time in their lives to figure out who they are and what they believe. Janes loves cooking, baking, reading, traveling, puns, and a good laugh! She is thankful that she spent a decade serving in California and now she is in Utah on the next part of the adventure. She is now serving at the University of Utah and Utah Valley University.

About Andy
Dr. Andy Bannister is the Director of Solas and an Adjunct Lecturer at Wycliffe College, University of Toronto. Andy holds a PhD in Islamic studies and is an Adjunct Research Fellow at the Centre for the Study of Islam and Other Faiths at Melbourne School of Theology. Andy is the author of an academic book, An Oral-Formulaic Study of the Qur’an, and two popular-level books: The Atheist Who Didn’t Exist (or: The Terrible Consequences of Really Bad Arguments), and his latest: Do Muslims and Christians Worship the Same God?. When not travelling, speaking, or writing, Andy is a keen hiker, mountain climber, and photographer. He is married to Astrid; they have two children, Caitriona and Christopher.

She shares about her passion for the combination of faith and science and what has caused her to place her faith in Jesus Christ. Xandra also shares about how she got started as a speaker.
Zoé asks a few questions regarding placing hope in something we don’t truly believe in and she shares what she believes is missing from her faith journey.

About Xandra
Xandra Carroll is a speaker and writer. She studied biology in Colorado, theology at the Oxford Centre of Christian Apologetics, and then went back to biology again, studying for her Master's degree in New Zealand. Her research has included blood cells, animal behavior, and bird conservation. Xandra is passionate about educating the Christian public on our role as stewards of God’s natural world. She often speaks on the philosophy of science, and on the intersection between science and faith. She currently lives in the foothills of Colorado.

Happy November from the Finding Something REAL Team!
This month, we are excited to introduce to you Zoé, a wonderful young woman from France!
Zoé shares her experience as an exchange student in the US and some of the biggest cultural differences that she has noticed. She shares a bit about her upbringing and the cultural opinions about religion that she’s experienced.
Zoé shares her first experience going to a Christian church, why she continues to go back, and what she finds most beautiful about the idea of God. She also shares some of her questions including:
- How can we really be sure there's a God or someone to help us?
- How can I know what to believe? Do we just believe in something because someone told us to? How can we know truth?
- How different is life when you are a Christian?
